Happy (Belated) Birthday to me!

I celebrated my birthday on Feb 8 by going to Disneyland... how fun was that? Tons of fun, I can assure you. Spent five days there and just got back late last week. Going back to work just isn't quite as exciting as getting up to ride California Screamin' though... funny that! ;)

However I am happy to be back at it with a few projects to keep me occupied. I am hoping for some new Bella Sara cards to work on early this year. Haven't heard anything yet!

In the meantime I am also working on clay sculpture to practice my skills for selling creations on Etsy or similar. I wish I'd returned to this particular craft earlier! Always found it frustrating to work in some clays, but polymer clay solves a lot of the gripes I had with standard stuff. I just hope my first creation bakes up ok...

Anyway, I may get around to photographing it before it's done. No progress shots sadly as I am far too lazy for that. ;)

Well, here they are! My two Bella Sara cards for the Treasures set. The portfolio section on my site will be updated with them later...

New Bella Sara "Treasures" cards due out in March

Exciting! The artwork I did for the Bella Sara "Treasures" set last year looks like it will be available in March!

Not long now... I might even be able to post my pieces soon since the release is now official. Can't wait! Sadly, I don't know if I can purchase those specific cards directly, so anyone who was wanting to have one would have to buy the ten-packs and hope mine are both in there. *LOL* At the least folks can soon view them online in my portfolio.

The Deviant Designery (ART, that is)

It's a modest start, to be sure, but I've gotten myself listed on DeviantART at last. The goal is to encourage myself to do regular sketching and painting between all my other tasks to keep inspired and develop new techniques, and to gain more exposure (of course).

If you have an account, by all means, drop on by! :)

Newly redesigned website

The Designery has had a facelift! The new look is more streamlined: sleeker, simpler, easier to read and trimmed of all excesses. The portfolio sections for design and illustration will be further modified, but most of the changes will be invisible (PHP/MySQL additions to allow me to update it easily via database). A proper blog will eventually be incorporated into the News section.

So, what are you waiting for? Go and have a look! :)

Samples updated, and other developments...

Well, the galleries at the Designery and Blazing Brush have been updated with art, logos, banners, books, etc. Below is a small sampling of what's new:

Also, starting soon the Designery may be closed on Fridays (and open later Mon to Thurs) until further notice. This is in order to spend time each week developing new technical and artistic skills. It is hoped that more comprehensive web services can be offered (using PHP and MySQL to offer content management and shopping cart solutions), including more advanced SEO. Also, new art and illustration techniques in Photoshop, Painter and Illustrator will be explored to give a wider variety of styles to choose from for everything from children's book illustrations to marketable products (such as collectible cards).

Lots of stuff to tackle, and so little time to do it all!

Long time no write!

It's been a long hiatus away, including some holiday time in between, but I am still here and working away on creative endeavours!

A lot has gone on at the Designery over the last several months, including the completion of various books, websites, banner ads and other projects for a variety of clients. I've also been producing art concepts (for clients and myself), including the line art cheetah below:
There will be several new samples added to the design and art galleries at both sites (and on project bidding sites like iFreelance) in the near future, so keep watching!
